The problem many hybrid athletes face.
Many athletes who train in calisthenics or gymnastics do not have a simplified way to log their exercise progress like your typical gym-goer due to the variety of conditions within the progression of the exercise. This leads to a lack of progress and an inability for the athlete to reach their fitness goals long term.
Research revealed that existing workout logging options lacked flexibility and mobility.
Closed apps like "Strong" and "Caliverse" were portable but inflexible, while open methods such as spreadsheets offered flexibility but lacked convenience.
Combining the best of both worlds, I envisioned a mobile app catering to intermediate athletes, offering flexibility like spreadsheets within a structured framework.
User surveys and online discussions highlighted the preference for simplicity and ease of use, with spreadsheets and physical journals being popular choices. Participants desired the ability to add contextual notes to their workouts.

To address the common athlete desires I found in my research, I mapped out the user's current journey using a pre-existing method. Mapping this allowed me to craft a user flow starting from the moment the athlete wakes up, guiding them through logging their workout.
Initial usability testing revealed user confusion and overwhelm with the dashboard layout.
Moving personal progress data to the profile screen improved clarity and task completion rates significantly.

The sign-up process was streamlined.
I created a progress bar and simplified input fields. Gathering measurement information provided a reference point for progress tracking.
Re-testing showed a marked improvement in task completion rates.
The new dashboard design proving highly effective. The average completion rate jumped from 60% to 85% in the next round alone! Time on task hovered at just under 3 minutes.
